Mind, Body, Soul and Personality – The 4 Fundamental Cores of Development

Four cores of development

As Edmonton’s renowned day care and child care center, we are always focused for the best health and timely development of your child. This is at absolute core of our system. We always strive to balance the 4 primary core developments in each child. Our fundamental developments include nurturing every child in the areas of mind, body, soul and personality in all our daycare and childcare programs.

How is our staff involved?

Champions academy daycare and out of school care’s entire staff ensures that all diversified requirements of the multiple communities and cultures are served with passion and pride. Our staff considers working with children as their top choice and always stays involved to the best of their ability. We provide highest quality daycare and childcare services in Edmonton. We also have out of school care program and drop in care program for children of different age groups. While we provide the essential daycare services, our staff focuses on building relationship with the children.

How do we help nurturing children’s mind?

Our daycare promotes energy and excitement in the children. We let it flourish. We let them be curious and challenging and aim to provide a complete nurturing environment where children can play and learn without any boundaries. Our method is to help children to explore within the safe limitations of our curriculum which in-turn helps them to want to come to daycare and get ready for the future school years. By adding small learning experiences in language classes, numeracy, french, math and creativity, children learn it even more!. We help young kids explore nature and connect science with it to have them lasting impressions of what they learned.

What more we do?

Our staff always ensures that children are understood according to the ‘theory of mind”. We will reach out to the children in most comfortable manner to them, specially reaching ‘eye to eye” levels and acknowledging their body language, communication repeats, and learning efforts.

As per;

  1. Westby, C. & Robinson, L. (2014). A developmental perspective for promoting theory of mind Topics in Language Disorders, 34(4), 362-383.
  2. De Villiers, J. G. & de Villiers, P. A. (2014). The role of language in theory of mind development. Topics in Language Disorders, 34(4), 313-328.

During infancy and early childhood, children learn the early skills that they’ll need to develop their theory of mind later. These skills include the ability to;

  • pay attention to people and copy them
  • recognize others’ emotions and use words to express them (“happy”, “sad”, “mad”)
  • know that they are different from other people and have different likes/dislikes from others
  • know that people act according to the things they want
  • understand the causes and consequences of emotions (If I throw my toy, Mom will be mad)
  • pretend to be someone else (like a doctor or a cashier) when they play
